For me, a silver lining of our current global crisis is the appreciation our nation is showing for workers who were undervalued in the past. We depend heavily on our grocery store workers, gas station attendees, sanitation workers, postal clerks, etc., and I think the value we are now placing on these positions is long overdue.
I am able to sit in the comfort of my home (in self-isolation) and still lead a relatively normal life. Due in large part to the people who are still going to work everyday.
Thank you to each and every person who keeps the grocery shelves stocked and open for business. From the truck drivers to the janitors. To those who pick up my garbage and recycling. To the worker who have always been there, but I never truly noticed. I want you to know that I see you, that I appreciate you, that I value you. You matter and you are utterly amazing.
